FAQ

Your questions answered

What is considered a mid-career professional?

A mid-career professional usually has around 6 to 15 years of experience — past the early learning stage, with real expertise, but with a long working life still ahead. It is often the stage where people weigh whether to stay, switch fields or step up, which is exactly when a careful, evidence-based decision pays off most.

What does “career plateau” mean?

A career plateau is when your progress stalls — promotions slow down, responsibilities stop growing and you are learning little that is new, even though you are doing your job well. It is common in mid-career because there are fewer senior roles. The fix is usually a deliberate move: a new skill, a broader role, a lateral switch or a step up elsewhere.

At what age is it harder to find a job?

Many professionals find job searches slower after about 40, partly because there are fewer senior roles and some employers still show age bias. But experience is also an asset: the India Skills Report 2026 calls the 6–15-year experience band the hardest for employers to find. Current skills, a clear target role and a strong network matter far more than age.
